Prepare a visual brief with GPT Image 2.6. Describe a new image or changes to reference images, then review aspect ratio, resolution, quality, and file settings in the APIMart workspace.
GPT Image 2.6 API configuration
Describe the subject, composition, lighting, and any text to include.
Transparent backgrounds require PNG or WebP.
Reference images
Add up to 16 images with public HTTP(S) URLs or local PNG, JPEG, and WebP files (up to 10 MB each).
Your generated images will appear here
Turn a rough idea into a specific image brief. Keep the subject, composition, and output settings together before reviewing the request configuration.
These examples use APIMart’s common asynchronous image-task format. Review the model value and workspace options, then follow the task-ID and result-query structure.
Save an APIMart key as APIMART_API_KEY. Use Authorization: Bearer <key> for the submission and task-query requests.
The example sends POST /v1/images/generations with model set to gpt-image-2.6, prompt, and output settings. For editing, add image_urls. The common task response stores the ID in data[0].task_id.
Use GET /v1/tasks/{task_id}. For a completed task, read data.result.images[0].url[0]; for a failed task, read data.error.message.
See the APIMart documentation for APIMart authentication and general API usage.

|---|---|---|---|---|
model | string | Required | Default: gpt-image-2.6 | The model value used by this workspace and its examples: gpt-image-2.6. |
prompt | string | Required | Default: — | Describe the image to create, or the changes to make and the reference details to preserve. |
size | string | Optional | Default: auto | Workspace choices: auto, 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 4:5, or 5:4. |
resolution | string | Optional | Default: 1k | Workspace resolution choices: 1k, 2k, or 4k. This is a request setting, not a claim about native output dimensions. |
quality | string | Optional | Default: auto | Workspace quality choices: auto, low, medium, or high. |
n | integer | Optional | Default: 1 | Image count in this workspace: an integer from 1 to 4. |
output_format | string | Optional | Default: png | Output-format choices: png, jpeg, or webp. Use png or webp with a transparent background. |
background | string | Optional | Default: auto | Background choices: auto, opaque, or transparent. Transparent cannot be combined with jpeg. |
image_urls | array | Optional | Default: — | Optional array of up to 16 HTTP or HTTPS reference-image URLs in this workspace. Local files are for local preview; use reachable image URLs in request examples. |
Prepare the details that shape an image request.
Describe the visual goal and the details a reviewer should check.
Organize your image brief in three steps.
Describe the subject and composition. For edits, state the requested changes and what should remain.
Add reference images when needed. Set the aspect ratio, resolution, quality, background, and file format.
Check the Form or JSON draft, then compare it with the API example and parameter table below.
Prompts, naming variants, references, and request configuration.
Prepare text-to-image or reference-image briefs, choose output settings, and review Form and JSON drafts. The page also shows the common APIMart asynchronous request structure.
Start with the subject and scene, then specify composition and lighting. For image text, include exact wording and placement. Keep the requested changes separate from details to preserve.
The workspace accepts up to 16 references. Add public HTTP or HTTPS image URLs, or select local files for preview. Explain what each reference contributes to the brief.
Local files are previewed on your device. The API examples use image_urls containing reachable HTTP or HTTPS addresses; selecting a file does not upload it or create a public URL.
The workspace offers auto, 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 3:4, 4:5, and 5:4. Choose a ratio to suit the intended placement.
The page provides 1k, 2k, and 4k request settings, with 1k selected initially. These labels describe workspace choices and do not establish native dimensions or model performance.
The workspace offers auto, low, medium, and high, with auto as the default. Keep this setting in the configuration so the intended quality choice is explicit.
Select transparent and choose png or webp. The workspace rejects transparent with jpeg because JPEG does not store an alpha channel.
The n control accepts integers from 1 to 4 and defaults to 1. This is the range offered by this page’s configuration form.
Choose png, jpeg, or webp based on the destination for the asset. PNG is the default. For a transparent-background configuration, use PNG or WebP.
Both views describe the same draft. Valid supported JSON values update the form; invalid JSON keeps your edited text and shows an error so you can correct it.
The common APIMart pattern submits POST /v1/images/generations, reads data[0].task_id, then queries GET /v1/tasks/{task_id}. A completed image is available at data.result.images[0].url[0].
In the common task response, a failed status is accompanied by data.error.message. Check the error before deciding whether to revise the input or retry.
